Crush

My sister was watching TV when the channel started playing a song from Alaipayuthey.

It was probably the millionth time I was watching it, as well as the millionth time I had that stupid grin on my face when I saw Madhavan prance about awkwardly. More than Madhavan, I think that grin was for Karthik, his character in the movie. Karthik pretty much epitomized every thing I've ever wanted in a guy - charming, intelligent and most importantly, he wasn't afraid to get what he wanted.

So actuall-a paatha (Simbu in Vinnathaandi Varuvaaya. Yes. Same feel) my first crush wasn't Madhavan. It was Karthik.

  11. Madhavan does not look his age in that movie at all...he probably looks his best ever ....as Karthik. One of my fav scenes is the chuckle he has when Shalini gives him a mouthful from across the metal fence. First crush : Mavika Tiwari.

    Yes. Same Bledd. Me too first crush Alaipayuthe Karthik. Second crush Kannathil Muthamittal - the writer guy. Sometimes I wondered if it was just Maddy's Iyengar good looks. But then, I watched Run.

  26. Arvin Swami in Roja (although only cuz of the romantic snow sequence, not as a character), Karthik in Mouna Ragam and again, him in Agni Natshathram.

    These were first crushes but I fell in *love* with Ajith (after Vaali I think) and cried when he married Shalini (I know!!!)

  28. You know what 'Crush' reminds me of? That total-thu dialogue in Singam where anushka tells surya 'enaku unga mela crush vandirchu' or some crap like that. The word crush itself is eeew now.

    Anyway, you mean actor level crush? Then definitely madhavan as karthik was THE one..but generally na there's a huge list ;)

Mine is Leonardo DI Caprio... i still have his poster under my bed back home... it freaks out my hubby tho... neways about karthik i really like the guy too n he is part of a theatre group called Evam and i had a colleague who is also a part of that group n so i got to see this guy live on stage :) They have a lot of shows in CHennai :)

    But Karthik from MR was so perfect - he was bad, he was brash, he was charming, he was persistent and he was dead and gone and that made you want him even more...please come back. Please.

    And Salman Khan from Maine Pyar Kiya - all my train trips after that for a few years were accompanied by a copy of filmfare with Sallu on the cover. And all walls in my rooms were covered with sallu's - hate him now - but that's besides the point.

    Jagjit Singh's voice as in the ghazals I heard, though not exactly the person. Was in 8th standard then.
    Whole day would listen to his ghazals on cassetes back to back. Those were the day!! :)
